our history
The Drinking Game™ was developed by Andrea M. Winters, M.A., M.Ed., L.P.C., who is currently the Associate Director and Alcohol and Other Drug Specialist at the Pace University Counseling Services in Pleasantville, New York. The game’s content was derived from materials used in an alcohol and other drug education workshop for students at Pace and is part of a harm-reduction approach to alcohol education. In addition to her work at the university, Ms. Winters has a private practice in Leonia, New Jersey where she counsels adults and older adolescents.

The Drinking Game™ borrows principals and concepts from the BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening Interventions for College Students) program developed in 1992 at the University of Washington and from TIPS (Training for Intervention ProcedureS) for the University, a derivative of TIPS for On Premises, originally created in 1982 by Dr. Adam Chafetz in an effort to provide bartenders and waiters with the skills necessary to prevent customers from becoming intoxicated.

The game board and its components were designed by Solar Jet Productions, a multi-media graphic design and marketing company under the direction of Sean Jeremy Palmer and Kelli Colaco and manufactured by 521 Promo led by Kellene Addison.
